Welcome to Arterion
Arterion was a company developing medical devices made from bacterial cellulose. In 2013 the company was unfortunateley forced to close down.
None of the information on this webpage is updated since 2013.
Arterion manufactures biomaterials, including artificial blood vessels, consisting of microbially derived cellulose for revascularisation of patients with cardiovascular diseases.
The manufacturing method is based on a novel technology that controls the life conditions of the microbe Gluconacetobacter xylinus.
The use of microbially derived cellulose will allow clinicians to use artificial blood vessels as replacement for vessels with an internal diamter of less than five millimetres. With today’s technology this is curently not possible.
